One of the highlights of summer at Blogchatter is the #BlogchatterEbook carnival. A platform for authors in the community to get published. And a delight for book lovers to sample a range of books, free for a limited time
I joined the Blogchatter community (officially) in May 2019 and just before the Ebook carnival. One of my first book reviews on the blog was Hawkers of Kolkata by Isha Doshi. Each year, I return to the library to pick books by debut and veteran authors.
Although I was a bit late to the party this year, it has again been a fabulous one. I share my first picks from the library that I have read and enjoyed. I would be back with my second list soon. Stay tuned.
A Potpourri Of Drabble by Harshita Nanda
Genre: Literary & Contemporary Fiction
I have enjoyed reading Harshita Nanda’s micro-fictions and needless to say, her book was my first pick. A collection of 100-word stories across a range of emotions. And true to its name, indeed a potpourri. Literally and figuratively.
Tiny tales and drabbles but those that stay with you for a long time. Be it Pooris for Gauri or A Vaccine Against Hunger. Some that leave you disturbed, some that inspire, some that take you down memory lane. A kind of book that you can always return to.
Highly recommended.
Happy Endings by Suchita Agarwal
Genre: Literary & Contemporary Fiction
I have always been a fan of Suchita’s writing. The Gunslinger was among the first ones I read during my first season.
Who does not like happy endings? Her latest book is a collection of five distinct short stories that leave you with a warm feeling that there is hope in the world after all. Relatable stories with flawed and less-than-perfect characters.
Do pick up this one if you haven’t already.
Doctor, blogger, author, mompreneur, podcaster. Dr. Amrita Basu is one powerhouse and her books are always packed with relevant information.
Divided into three sections – Podcasting, Mental Health of Content Creators, and Content Monetization – she shares her podcasting journey and the launch of her first audiobook in her latest offering. If you are a writer planning to dip your toes in the world of podcasting or a blogger looking to monetize, you need to pick up the book. And while you are at it, do check out her other books too.
A bibliophile’s delight. And particularly so if you enjoy classics.
The author takes you along a literary journey as she discusses the masterpieces with a generous dose of trivia. A collection of 26 fictional characters across the board. Be it Feluda or Dr. Zhivago or Swami or Miss Marple.
A book that makes you want to revisit the classics pronto.
Often it is the simplest of things that impart the biggest lesson. And mother nature is one treasure trove.
Blogging sisters duo Meenal and Sonal Mathur are back with an environmentopedia sharing 26 lesson from nature. From the blissful breeze to the earnest tornado (who would have thought).
Each chapter includes self-introspection exercise that makes this a wholesome read.
Memories of My Father by Jayanthi Manikandan
Genre: Non-fiction
A beautiful heartwarming tribute to a father. Celebrating his life. Losing a parent hits you like a ton of bricks. Author Jayanthi Manikandan shares her father’s journey through life giving us an insight into her younger years too.
The book felt personal since it reminded me of my own father. Perhaps because they were probably similar in age and upbringing.
This book is a must read.
The 5 Laws of Financial Freedom by Neha Jain
Genre: Non-fiction
Financial freedom for women cannot be emphasized enough. And the author Neha Jain is on a mission to create more women investors in India.
The 5 Laws of Financial Freedom is a guide for new and seasoned investors without the usual jargon. Why one needs an emergency fund and why an insurance policy should not be considered a retirement investment.
This book needs to be on your ebook shelf.
Life with a Pinch of Salt by Asfiya Rahman
Genre: Literary & Contemporary Fiction
A bit sweet. A bit salty. Such is life.
True to its name, Life With A Pinch Of Salt by Asfiya Rahman is a collection of twelve short stories and flash fiction. Some laugh out loud and others thought-provoking. But never a dull moment.
Do give it a read.

Thank you for this post Ritu. All I’ve read is Suchita’s Happy Endings. There are at least two or three books here that are on my read-now list – the one on Podcasting (because podcasting intrigues me) and the one on Literary Characters.Picking them up now and also bookmarking your post for more.
